Over the years, it has been my pleasure and priviledge to teach a number of truly exceptional students.  Rarely, however, do I find such a high number of them in one class as I have this past term.

Yesterday evening saw the last class of my DIST 3901: Issues In Interdisciplinary Studies course.  The course itself is something of an anomaly - a pretty intensive seminar course dealing with the pragmatics of epistemology, theory construction and presentation where the students get an opportunity to try and construct theoretical and pragmatic models for their Honours Research Project.  This years topics included Socrates, Diversity Hiring Progams, Obesity, Child Abuse, Adoption, DID, Comics as social text, the “Story” of the Environmental Movement and a Norse Saga.  Quite the range…

Honestly, I love teaching this class although “facilitating” might be a better term for it than “teaching”.  The class really concentrates on people getting to know both how to conduct research and how they conduct research - a “know thyself” proposition.
